Here are some facts of the importance of human interactions and socializing in a person’s wellbeing. First, we should know the difference between socialization and socializing.
Is an interactive communication process between the individual development and other people´s influence, as well as, how we receive, perceive and interpret all social messages in a social context. Socialization is a complex process that is based on the theory of social learning, which is the assimilation of social experiences while retaining a certain autonomy. Basically, it is how someone grows or develops in society by acquiring its human behaviors according to its culture or society. (Pescaru, 2019).
In a Psychological context the Britannica’s Encyclopedia (2018) defines Socialization as:
“the process whereby an individual learns to adjust to a group (or society) and behave in a manner approved by the group (or society). According to most social scientists, socialization essentially represents the whole process of learning throughout the life course and is a central influence on the behaviour, beliefs, and actions of adults as well as of children”.
It comes from the verb socialize which means “ to spend time when you are not working with friends or with other people in order to enjoy yourself” (Cambridge Dictionary, 2021).
In a nutshell, socialization is the process in which humans are taught to behave in certain way to be part of a society ruled by certain norms and expectations; socializing is the interaction with others such as family members, friends, colleagues, classmates, etc., and it´s merely a social practice for enjoyment.
The point here is the importance of socializing. A research paper written by Rojas and Ibarra-Lopez (2014) for an issue on AI Techniques to Evaluate Economics and Happiness, showed that human relations are crucial for a person´s WELL-BEING, happiness not only comes from our own personal characteristics but also from societies, social networks or social interactions with others. Gratifying relations contribute to fulfilling psychological and economic needs, such as competence, self-esteem, autonomy, a sense of being valued and an affinity among others.
Losing spontaneous interactions is a disadvantage in creating connections. The authors mention that human relations do not emerge out of nothingness, they have to be formed, however, they are not completely under any person’s control. Therefore, it is important to understand that interactions must be created and shaped.
A relevant point of the authors´ proposal , that backs up the significance of my service is that, in the creation of relationships, it is for the individual to decide how much time and/or effort (quality & quantity) they will allocate to a relationship or interaction; however, the quality of these relational goods “ not only depend on the time they allocate to human relations but also on the existence of other people who are also willing to share time with them”, so the transformation of these interactions into pleasurable and satisfying experiences also depend on the decision of another person.
Everyone has satisfying relationships of different kinds that contribute to their wellbeing and happiness. However, not always they share common interests, feel empathy towards a person´s feelings or situation, you may simply need other perspectives, supportive companionship, active listening, assistance in learning or improving a skill, a desire for new experiences or any other reason. Therefore, I offer you quality time and attention.
