“ Maria is a super-host and without a doubt I would hire her services again and again. It would be extraordinary to find this kind of service every time I travel and have a “Maria” in each country I go to”.
- Fatima Rivas
I was referred to Fatima by a relative. She has been visiting Toronto for a few summers with her daughter, who takes English summer courses. Fatima travels alone with her daughter, but due to a physical condition that limits her lower body mobility, she finds it challenging to participate in activities with her daughter after school.
She has been using my companionship services for three years now, typically staying for about a month each time. During the weekdays, after work, I meet them to socialize—we go shopping, have dinner, visit museums, buy groceries, and explore the city. On weekends, we spend the whole day together, doing activities that require more time, such as trips outside the city, visiting Wonderland, the zoo, watching movies, playing sports, and more. I assist Fatima with her mobility while also engaging in activities with her daughter that she finds difficult to do herself.
“ Maria was a great support and company. She made me feel comfortable and helped me controlling my anxiety and nervousness by providing support and company so I didn´t feel alone, as I always travel with my husband”.
- Mayela Enriquez
I was referred to Mayela by Fatima. Last year was her first time visiting Toronto with her daughter for an English summer camp. However, she had never traveled alone before, always having her husband with her. Being in an unfamiliar city where she doesn’t speak the language made her feel anxious and nervous.
Additionally, Mayela has a hearing disability—she is deaf in one ear—which adds to her anxiety, especially when struggling to hear and understand conversations. I assisted her and her daughter in navigating Toronto and exploring its tourist attractions. Each day, we planned her routes and activities in advance so she would feel more comfortable while alone. Once her daughter and I finished our respective responsibilities, we would meet in the evenings and on weekends to do activities together.
"Maria is a lifesaver! She meets my mother at her medical appointments whenever it´s not possible for me to attend her medical follow ups. It´s such a relive knowing that I can count on someone reliable”.
- Maureen Vandermoer
Maureen is an only child, a mother of two boys, and a busy professional. With her responsibilities and family life, the time she has to assist her parents with medical appointments is limited. While she takes great pleasure in accompanying them when she can, it’s not always possible. As they age, finding the time becomes even more challenging.
